WITHWARD DISCIPLINE

MENTORING

The practice of investing in a younger or less mature believer’s walk with Jesus. Paul and Timothy could be an example of this.

IDEAS FOR PRACTICE

  • Any of us could be a good candidate for being mentored. None of us knows everything there is to know about the life of faith, and even the most spiritually mature among us could learn from someone else. Consider asking someone in your life that you look up to spiritually - someone that you regularly seek out for guidance and wisdom already is best - to meet with you regularly to mentor or disciple you.

  • Additionally, God may be inviting some of us to mentor others. Notice the people that God puts in your life and spiritual proximity. Is there anyone that consistently approaches you for advice or looks to you for wisdom? Is this someone that you think you could make a commitment - even short-term - to meet with for the purposes of encouraging them and helping them to grow in their walk with Jesus? If you need help discerning this, please ask one of the pastors for input.
